What is Ferdinand?

It provides a simple REST API / SMTP server to send emails, and a dashboard to manage your domains, and API keys.
Why is it named Ferdinand?
Ferdinand is named after Ferdinand Cheval, a French postman who spent 33 years building Le Palais idéal, a palace made of pebbles and stones he collected during his daily mail route.
Ferdinand Cheval’s story is a testament to the power of perseverance and creativity, and we hope Ferdinand can help you build something great too.
Who is behind Ferdinand?
Ferdinand is developed by Valyent, a french company building open-source software for developers.
Is it truly open-source?
Ferdinand is licensed under the AGPL-3.0 license, which means you are free to use, modify, and distribute the source code as long as you provide the same rights to others.
In other words, you can use Ferdinand for free, and you can also modify the source code to suit your needs. However, if you distribute the modified source code, you must also provide the same rights to others.
This license is approved by the Free Software Foundation and the Open Source Initiative.
Is Ferdinand free to use?
Yes, Ferdinand is free to use for self-hosting use; and during the alpha phase, we are offering a free tier for the hosted version.
